One of the first gems I got from Wish I Was Here, Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded feature film, was that the Hebrew word for charity was “tzedaka”.

Poignant for me because I was part of the whole Kickstarter thing – I chipped in, being a big fan of Braff as JD in Scrubs, and also of Joshua Radin, his friend whos music I discovered through Scrubs.

And more poignant because of the well-publicised hatred between Muslims and Jews; and yet they share the same word for one of the most noble deeds outlined in both holy books.

We sometimes choose to see differences, where as things aren’t not the same.
